Update Letter 31/12/2020

Thursday, 31 December 2020

As you will be aware, Cumbria has just moved in to tier 4 and the government have introduced a new set of recommendations for students and staff returning to school.  The new guidance is available here:  https://www.gov.uk/guidance/tier-4-stay-at-home#moving-home

Under tier 4 all students should, at the moment, stay at home. They should only leave home for specific reasons, given in the guidance above. Students will then return to school in a staggered way, after the lateral flow testing (LFT). As I stated in my message yesterday, the following system for students’ return to school will apply at the UTC.

Week commencing Monday 4 January

• Monday 4 January UTC is CLOSED for staff training day (off site)

• Tuesday 5 January Lateral flow testing of all staff

• Wednesday 6 January Lateral flow testing of Year 11 students

• Thursday 7 January Lateral flow testing of 6th Form students

• Friday 8 January Lateral flow testing of Year 10 students

Online lessons

Online lessons will take place for all students on all days – except on the day their year group will be tested. Links to classes will be sent to student email addresses, so please ensure students can access their email address before online lessons begin.
